An energy trade show organized by Reuters Events, Downstream sought the help of JDC Events.

About This Project

JDC Events delivers quality planning and support services for clients and events located throughout the United States. JDC can also be a driving force for organizers from abroad, providing in-country expertise and operations support. For the energy trade show Downstream USA in Houston, JDC supplied a complete operations team for a client faced with an unexpected staffing challenge.

 

London-based Reuters Events hosts about 20 events throughout the year designed to connect industry decision-makers. For each of these, their organizer teams strive to develop close customer relationships and a deep understanding of each industry’s strategic challenges to deliver expert content and innovation-focused exhibits.

 

In 2021, as organization for Downstream USA was well underway, Covid-19 travel restrictions were still in place. The overseas organizing team was unable to enter the United States, leaving them with no onsite representation and in desperate need of operations support. With just weeks remaining, they reached out to JDC Events for help.

 

The Reuters Events team needed decisive production handled exactly to specification. The JDC team met with Reuters and key suppliers to arrange a seamless handover. JDC worked with them to complete the planning process – sourcing vendors, organizing onsite logistics, and demonstrating our expertise in trade show management. Despite a compressed time frame, reduced budget, and pandemic-era challenges, the team delivered another excellent event.

 

Here is a summary of the support JDC provided for Downstream USA.

 

Onsite, the four-person JDC Events team provided:

  • Event oversight for AV production and other vendors
  • Catering and registration management
  • Operational assistance, including temp worker instruction
